  Possible Duplicate: Is it ever too old to learn how to become a programmer? I'm 30 years old going back to school for a 2nd degree in Computer Science. I will be transferring to my local state university this fall and would like to know if my age will be a factor when applying for internships. I have already read a few threads about age and careers: Is it too late to start your career as a programmer at the age of 30? Does it matter that you started developing at 26? While it is reassuring to know that people are getting entry-level programming jobs at 30+, what about internships? Should I even bother with bigger companies like Google, Microsoft, or Apple? I know we have laws against age-discrimination but lets not pretend we live in a perfect world where everyone follows the rules.

  I attended a Microsoft Office and SharePoint 2010 HOL 1 day workshop last week and wanted to setup a VM to try the new features in my own laptop. The presenter in the workshop implicitly mentioned a tool called VirtualBox (because it's not a MS product?) but I have no clue what it is at that moment.   I've attempted to install WSS 3.0 with SP1 several times as both stand-alone and server farm with no luck on Windows Server 2008.  When I get to step 5 of Configuration wizard it begin installing and publishing services but on Step 5 I get the message "Failed To Register Sharepoint Services". The detail behind this message reads "An exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException was thrown". Then I Run the command psconfig -cmd configdb -create -database <whatever_unique_name> Click on Start / All Programs / Administrative Tools / SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard Should work now (it did with me). PS: This was done on a Virtual Machine (VMware)

  I do really hate repeater. I was more a GridView lover but after 3.5 be born, I prefer ListView.  The first problem with Repeater is paging. You will need to write code to handle paging. Second common problem is empty data template. Have a look at this:             if (rptMyRepeater.Items.Count < 1)             {                 if (e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.Footer)                 {                     Label lblFooter = (Label)e.Item.FindControl("lblEmpty");                     lblFooter.Visible = true;                 }             }   I found the above code is usefull if you need to show something like "There is no record" is your data source has no records. Although the ListView has a template.   If you combine ListView with a DataPager, you will be in heaven as it is sorting the paging for you without writing code.   I frequently have multiple Eclipse-based projects running simultaneously, sometimes on different versions of Eclipse. I have made a mess of a few workspaces by accidentally opening them in the wrong version of Eclipse. To thwart my own forgetfulness, I went seeking a way to launch directly to a workspace and found it at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/209789/starting-eclipse-w-specific-workspace. Essentially, add the -data switch to your icon's open command, such as: C:\eclipse\eclipse.exe -data E:\MyData\Clients\Confidential\EclipseGCDPGive it a unique name and stick it on your Start Menu (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu). Makes my life a bit easier and hopefully yours, too.

  I am trying to dual boot my acer which came with windows 8 pre-installed. I tried using the tutorial here doing it the simple way but when I load Ubuntu from my transcended flash drive it says that there is no other operating system installed. I tried partitioning my hard drive but I seem to have 3 recovery partitions and even though I have 485GB free I can only allocate 100GB to the new partition. I would like to have most of my hard drive allocated to Ubuntu and just use the windows for programs like microsoft office.

  I was recently introduced to microsoft's tool that analyzes managed code assemblies called FxCop. It points out possible design, localization, performance, and security improvements against a pre defined set of rules (and also accepts custom rules). At first I was unsure how to go about using it as it seems to be aimed at software developers (.exe and .dll) . Its easy to get around this with the following steps: 1)Create a new folder (i.e C:\Code Analysis) 2)Publish your web application into the new folder 3)Open FxCop and add all the dll files from the newly created bin folder  to be scrutinized.
